In the beginning there was an idea.

For many years I worked for other people. And while it was exciting and fun at times, I was always doing what others told me to do. There is a protocol to follow, or a task to be done immediately. And the results were supposed to be always the same. Repeatable, reproducible. No room for creativity.

So I turned to my hobbies. I was making things. Collages, handbags, dresses, decorations. I rearranged my furniture often. Even assembled smaller pieces by myself (and bigger – I count three beds so far). I was never an expert, but it let me be creative. Until one day I saw an ad for a design school. And realized that there was much more I could do. I dove right into it and haven’t drowned. A whole new world opened for me. Fabrics, textures, colours…so much more than before. The idea to apply all of this and turn a not-so-special space into a one-of-a-kind is a delight.

As I’m writing this, we’re facing another hot summer. There’s already a heat warning issued. For once, I’m looking forward to it. I can stay at home, in my home office and design. Happy summer!
